Orthopedic Technician Contra Costa Health is the largest county department in Contra Costa County with over 4,700 employees. Our mission is to care for and improve the health of all people in Contra Costa with special attention to those who are most vulnerable to health problems. We provide services through nine operational areas: Behavioral Health, Contra Costa Health Plan, Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Health, Hazardous Materials, Health, Housing & Homeless Services, Public Health, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center & Health Centers and Detention Health. The Contra Costa Health Department currently has a great career opportunity to fill one (1) vacant Orthopedic Technician position to support our ortho, plastic, and podiatry providers. This position's home location is located at the Martinez Health Center and will need to travel to two other clinics to see patients. The other two clinics are Pittsburg Health Center and West County Health Center. Minimum Qualifications License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process. Certificates: Possess and maintain throughout the duration of their employment: a valid Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association. Applicants are required to attach a copy of their license to their application. Education: Graduation from high school, G. E. D. equivalency or California High School Proficiency Certificate. Experience: Six months of full-time experience in the application and removal of casts in a hospital, clinic or medical office setting, working directly in the treatment of orthopedic patients. Substitution: A valid Orthopaedic Technologist Certification issued by the National Board of Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT) OR completion of an Orthopedic Technician training program meeting the minimum standards set by the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists (NAOT) may be substituted for the required experience. Desirable Qualifications: BLS Certification Selection Process Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Training & Experience Evaluation: Candidates who clearly demonstrate that they possess the minimum qualifications will have their training and experience evaluated. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
